Day 39 - (09/10) Yosemite N.P., CA ... Day 2

We discovered that yesterday's easy entrance to a campground was an exception.  The site we worked so hard to set-up wasn't available today.  We had to move.  Unfortunately, we couldn't move right away because someone was in the new location and they had until noon to leave.

We took a drive back along Tioga Road toward Olmsted Point.  We got just past Porcupine Flat and had to turn around so we could get back to the campground and move the trailer.

The new site was really rutted and far from level.  It took every jack block we had to get level.  The power jack was at its full extent.
Site #215 - we thought this was a tough set-up
Site #108 - until we moved here
Carol checks to make sure the trailer is level
We spent two days in beautiful surroundings

We spent the afternoon travelling into and around Yosemite Valley.  We saw climbers on El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, Half Dome and dramatic views of the cliffs, chasms and mountains.

Big Oak Flat Road offers its own views of ...
past fires
Yosemite Valley
the road carved into granite cliffs
three tunnels

The valley floor gives us great views of ...
Bridalveil Fall
(water flow is low right now)
El Capitan
(there were two climbers on the face, below the heart)

Swinging Bridge offered views of the Merced River and Yosemite Point.  According to Carol, a woman (in a bikini) was swimming in the river.  Confirmation is pending.

Sentinel Bridge gave the best Half Dome view.

The campground area that Carol remembered from times with her parents was destroyed by a flood.

There were construction delays on both roads we travelled and at the only gas station in the area.  Gas was $5.019/gallon.

We played Bananagram again tonight.  We each won one game.  Our rechargeable lantern worked perfectly.
Carol insisted on preserving her winner.
