Day 40 - (09/11) Kingsburg, CA

We left Yosemite, cool nights and the mountains for the valley heat between Fresno and Visalia.

The 132 mile trip included a section of CA-41S from Yosemite Village to Fresno that was mostly sharp curves and steep grades, it's called Wawona Road within the park.  It offered some nice departing views.

The valley section on CA-99S from Fresno to Kingsburg was flat, multi-lane, and fast.  The terrain change was dramatic … from pine trees to palm trees.  The afternoon reached 94 degrees.
The valley greeted us with quite a change

We stopped for gas at Selma, got disoriented by GPS instructions and ended up driving through raisin vineyards.  We were surprised to see raisins lying on paper, drying in the sun.  There were stacks of Sun Maid Raisin crates along the road.  We learned that 90% of U.S. raisins are produced within eight miles of Selma and the city adopted the slogan "Raisin Capital of the World" in 1963.

We're at Club Royal Oak RV Resort.  It's located along the Kings River, surrounded by vineyards and orchards.  The sites are flat, wide, and surrounded by trees.  It's a perfect place to restore everything after a few days of dry camping.  Carol did laundry.  Dick caught up on email, bills and the blog.
