Day 30 - (09/01) Ashland, OR

The past few mornings have been quite cool.  It was 41 degrees at 8:00 this morning.  It shouldn't be a surprise, we're camped approximately a mile high.

The 158 mile trip to Ashland looked pretty simple on the map.  We took OR-230W and OR-62E passed the south entrance to Crater Lake, continued on OR-62E and US-97S passed Upper Klamath Lake to Klamath Falls, then took OR-66W to Ashland.  The views were beautiful, the roads were good and the traffic was light.

We traveled on this RR track years ago on an
Amtrak trip from San Diego to Seattle

Driving was easy ... except for the last 25 miles.  It was all down hill and really curvy.  We found out later that the road had length restrictions and that RVers are discouraged from taking the route.  It's used so little that the sign for our campground doesn't even point in that direction.

We went into Ashland after getting set up at Glenyan RV Park.  We got tickets to a live theatre production on Sunday night by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, had a delicious dinner at Standing Stone Brewing Co., and watched a Green Show (an improvised play based on Sondheim, triggered by audience suggestions and made up on the spot).

We got football game updates throughout the early afternoon.  The OSU 56 - Miami OH 10 final score was good news.
