Day 12 - (08/14) Missoula, MT

Today was a true travel day.  It was sunny.  The temperature reached the low 90s and winds were strong in the late afternoon.

The 224 mile trip followed WY-287N through Virginia City to Twin Bridges, WY-41N and WY-55N to Whitehall, then I-90W to Missoula.  Smoke from Idaho forest fires continue to fill the valleys here.

Virginia City is an old mining town and a registered national historic landmark.  We couldn't pass through without looking around and testing their homemade ice cream.  Many of the stores looked like folks just closed the doors and walked away ... leaving everything as it was.
A pretty view from Virginia City

Montana scenes continue to support their big sky image.

The Missoula KOA is tucked inside the city.  It's large and offers lots of amenities.  The sites are pretty close together.  It's nice, but not exceptional.
